Question Type - Verbal Reasoning

5 different type of multiple choice questions:

  1. 'True, False, or Can't Tell' questions

  2. 'Incomplete statement' questions

  3. 'According to the passage' questions

  4. 'Except' questions

  5. 'Most likely' questions

1. 'True, False, or Can't Tell' questions

True - On the basis of the information in the passage, the statement is true

False - On the basis of the information in the passage, the statement is false

Can't Tell - You cannot tell from the information in the passage whether the statement is true or false

Remember that you arc answering based ONLY on the passage and not on any of your own knowledge - so you choose the "cannot tell" option if there is not enough information to make up your mind one way or the other.

2. 'Incomplete statement' type questions

You'll need to identify the most appropriate response that best completes the statement provided

3. 'According to the passage' type questions

These type of questions reiterate the need for you to only use the provided information without being influenced by any prior knowledge or opinion

4. 'Except' type questions

These type of questions requires you to review evidence to come to a conclusion. Applicants will need to select the most appropriate answer given the information in the passage

5. 'Most likely' type questions

In these type of questions, the multiple choice response options are less definite and more speculative but choices will be as clear as in other questions. After reading the passage, you'll need to weigh up the evidence to reach a conclusion
